What is the product of 3 2/3 and 14 2/5?

A. 54
B. 52 4/5
C. 42 4/5
D. 52 4/15

I did the math and got 42 4/15
what did i do wrong?
If i had to guess id say its c or d ):

Simplify 792/15

(11/3) * (72/5) = 792/15 = ?

I am sooo confused.. can you explain it to me please

Jocelynn, looking at your answer, I can see that you just multiplied the whole number parts and then the fraction parts of your mixed fractions which is not the way fractions are multiplied

Mixed fractions are sort of cute to look at but they serve no purpose, (sort of like the Kardashians), so they have to be changed to "improper" fractions

Ms Sue showed you the right way to multiply mixed fractions, first change them to improper fractions, multiply the numberators , then the denomnators
that is how she got 792/15

She assumed that you would break this down to
52 4/5

I don't know anything that goes into either of them... ughhh could you elaborate it further?

disregard my last post

To find the product of mixed numbers, you need to convert them to improper fractions first. Let's break down the steps to solve this problem correctly:

Step 1: Convert the mixed numbers to improper fractions.
3 2/3 can be written as (3 * 3 + 2)/3 = 11/3.
14 2/5 can be written as (14 * 5 + 2)/5 = 72/5.

Step 2: Multiply the two improper fractions.
(11/3) * (72/5) = (11 * 72) / (3 * 5) = 792/15.

Step 3: Simplify the fraction, if possible.
792/15 can be simplified by dividing both the numerator and denominator by their greatest common divisor, which is 3.
792/15 = (3 * 264) / (3 * 5) = 264/5.

Step 4: Convert back to a mixed number, if necessary.
264/5 can be written as 52 4/5.

Therefore, the correct answer is B. 52 4/5.

It seems like you made a mistake in Step 3 when simplifying the fraction. Instead of dividing both the numerator and denominator by 3, you divided them both by 15. By following the correct steps, you will arrive at the correct answer of 52 4/5.
