Could someone please help me? calculate the volume in cu. ft of a section of drainage pipe that measures 8 feet in lenght and 24 inches in diameter (all measurements has to be in the same units and be careful that you distinguish between diameter and area when using this formula) someone please please help me. thanks

im assuming the pipe is a cylinder. The equation for volume for a cylinder is:

length * area of base

to find the area of the base just do

pi * radius (in this case 12 inches or 1 foot)^2 (that means square the radius)

I would recomend changing all units to feet since the answer needs to be in feet, otherwise you might confuse yourself.

To find the volume of the drainage pipe, we first need to convert the diameter from inches to feet.

The diameter of the pipe is given as 24 inches. Since there are 12 inches in a foot, we can divide 24 by 12 to convert it to feet.

24 inches ÷ 12 = 2 feet

Now that we have the diameter in feet, we can proceed to find the volume.

The formula for the volume of a cylinder is length multiplied by the area of the base.

The length of the pipe is given as 8 feet.

To find the area of the base, we need to know the radius. The radius of the pipe is half the diameter.

Radius = Diameter ÷ 2

Radius = 2 feet ÷ 2 = 1 foot

Now that we have the radius, we can find the area of the base.

Area = π * (Radius)^2

Using π ≈ 3.14159, we can calculate the area:

Area = 3.14159 * (1 foot)^2

Area = 3.14159 square feet

Finally, we can calculate the volume.

Volume = Length * Area

Volume = 8 feet * 3.14159 square feet

Volume = 25.13272 cubic feet

Therefore, the volume of the section of drainage pipe is approximately 25.13272 cubic feet.
