
2.5/1.25 = 0.5/x
Cross multiply and solve for x.
Or  divide 2.5 by 1.25 to find the miles per hour.

cross multiply and you will get something like this
2.5 X x = 0.5 X 1.25
which the answer will be
2.5x = 0.625
because we are finding for x so divide both sides by 2.5 so that x can stand alone. so 0.5x over(divided by) 2.5 and 0.625 over(divided by) 2.5.
(note: we are finding for x).
so the answer will now be
x=0.25
