Victoria has 2 pounds of flour she uses 2/5 of flour for pizza and 3/10 of the flour for bread. Find the weight of the flour she has left. Express in decimal form. I worked on this and the answer I came up with was 19.2 lbs left?

I disagree. It says 3/10 of the remaining. so it equals .36 pounds. I got .84 as an answer

Teacher said it was .84

HUH? She started with 2 lbs. How could she possibly wind up with 19.2 lbs??? When you get an answer, at least check to see whether it makes sense!

2/5 * 2 = 4/5 = 0.8
3/10 * 2 = 3/5 = 0.6
So, she used 1.4 lbs of flour, leaving

2.0-1.4 = 0.6 left over

Hmmm. Maybe you meant she started with 20 lbs.

2/5 + 3/10 = 7/10
7/10 of 20 is 14, leaving 6 lbs.

From now on, show your work, so we can see the steps you took...

I got 0.6 left over

Wellll uuuh I had this for home work here in California what I did was ......

2/5=12/30. 3/10=9/30 so, 12/30+9/30=21/30

Ok so after that I subtracted and I got 21/30-2/1=19/30

Same to me Kara, but I don't know how to do it!

0.84
