    First I heard of Napoleon fighting over here although his troops fought in the West Indies.

    I suppose one could stretch ones imagination to consider the French already trying to hold on to the Mississippi

    We had some serious Revolutionary War battles in southern states, including the last one at Yorktown Virginia.
