1. White 17/4 as a mixed number.

Hi, could someone please explain how to do this? Correct me if I’m wrong but do I try to multiply 4 x how many times I can before it goes to 17 and the number I get is the whole number and the newmerator is the numbers left?
Explain!!

To convert a fraction like 17/4 into a mixed number, you need to divide the numerator (17) by the denominator (4). The whole number portion of the mixed number will be the result of the division, and the remainder will be the numerator of the fraction.

Here are the steps to convert 17/4 into a mixed number:

Step 1: Divide the numerator (17) by the denominator (4).

17 ÷ 4 = 4 with a remainder of 1

Step 2: The result of the division, 4, becomes the whole number part of the mixed number.

Step 3: The remainder, 1, becomes the numerator part of the fraction.

So, the mixed number representation of 17/4 is 4 1/4.

To summarize, when converting a fraction to a mixed number, divide the numerator by the denominator, use the quotient as the whole number, and the remainder as the numerator of the fraction.

17 / 4 = 4 with 1 left over.

So 17/4 = 4 1/4

Alright so is the way I explained it correct?

Yes.
