Construction of the Aswan High Dam

did not provide the Nubian people with the predicted agricultural benefits.
forced the Nubian people to relocate from their traditional homelands.
provided the Nubian people with water for their traditional homelands.
provided the Nubian people with electricity in their traditional villages.

I think it's A or B (more A though). But my mom says it's D.
This is the only thing my lesson said on the Aswan Dam: For example, people in the Nile River floodplain in Africa, before the Aswan High Dam was built, depended on the great river's annual floods. These floods left behind much silt that helped make the surrounding land fertile.

That's it! It says nothing about electricity but mom is helping me and reading up on it and she found that out. Please help??? Thanks!

You're welcome. I'm sorry we got the wrong answer.

I agree with you, Skating. Considering your text and the information in the link below, I believe that either A or B is correct. However, the excerpt from your text points toward A. Please check it again to see if it mentions the relocation of the Nubians.

Thank you, Ms. Sue.

Your link does not say that the Nubians move, they wish to, but it seems like they do not. I'm going to go with A, I'll reply back with the answer :)

Thanks.

It was actually B :/

I mean, I guess in the notes that it ~suggests~ that they moved but it was still unclear. But thank you anyway! :)

Based on the information given in your lesson and what your mom found, the correct answer would be A: the construction of the Aswan High Dam did not provide the Nubian people with the predicted agricultural benefits.

The construction of the Aswan High Dam had both positive and negative consequences. While the dam did provide the Nubian people with water for their traditional homelands, it also forced them to relocate from their ancestral lands. One of the major goals of the dam was to improve agricultural production by controlling the annual floods of the Nile and providing a consistent water supply for irrigation. However, the dam's reservoir, Lake Nasser, did not provide the expected benefits in terms of sustaining agriculture due to various factors such as waterlogging, salt accumulation, and inadequate drainage systems.

As for electricity, the construction of the Aswan High Dam indeed provided the Nubian people with electricity in their traditional villages. The dam generates a significant amount of hydroelectric power, which has been an important source of energy in Egypt.

Therefore, in summary, the construction of the Aswan High Dam did not provide the predicted agricultural benefits to the Nubian people (option A), forced them to relocate from their traditional homelands (option B), but did provide them with water for their traditional homelands and electricity in their traditional villages (option D).
