Find the symbols for degrees, minutes and seconds on your calculator. Then find cot(43‹41Œ13"). Please give the details of what you did in addition to the answer. Explain what you did to find this. Has any other response used a wrong technique? What would you do to fix it?

using standard notation, you want

cot(43° 41' 13")

on my calculator, and most scientific calculators,
there is a key labeled D°M'S

and recall that cotØ = 1/tanØ
so on mine the keystrokes are as follows

1
/
tan
43
D°M'S
41
D°M'S
13
=
and I got 1.0469..

without using the D°M'S key
43° 41' 13"
= 43+41/60+13/3600
= 43.6869444..°
then take 1/tan 43.6869444.. = 1.0469..
