how do I get the number that equals -7/3

asked by Gail
  1. think about 6 divided by ____ = 2

How would you solve this problem?

    divide 6 by 2 to get 3

It is true that 6 divided by 3 = 2

    do the same thing here-
    -1/2 divided by -7/3

Instead of dividing fractions we multiply by the reciprocal

    -1/2 times -3/7

Multiply the numerators and multiply the denominators and that will give you your answer.

Be sure to check in the original problem.
