Ok, I already know how to work ratios, but I'm confused on this question:

Jessica had 3 pairs of tennis shoes and 3 pairs of sandals, What is the ratio of tennis shoes to sandals Jessica owned?
Pair means 2 right? So would it mean 6 tennis shoes to 6 sandals? Or 3 tennis shoes to 3 sandals? And how would i write it, like 1 whole or 3 over 3 or 6 over 6? or what?

6/6 would be my choice

Ok thanks,

To find the ratio of tennis shoes to sandals that Jessica owned, you need to compare the number of tennis shoes to the number of sandals. In this case, you mentioned that Jessica had 3 pairs of tennis shoes and 3 pairs of sandals.

Since a pair means 2, Jessica actually had 3 pairs of tennis shoes and 3 pairs of sandals, which means she had a total of 3 * 2 = 6 tennis shoes and 3 * 2 = 6 sandals.

To write the ratio of tennis shoes to sandals, you would use the format "x:y" where x represents the number of tennis shoes and y represents the number of sandals. In this case, the ratio would be 6:6 or simply 6/6.

However, it is important to note that ratios can be simplified. Since both the number of tennis shoes and sandals are the same (6), you can simplify the ratio by dividing both sides by their greatest common factor, which is 6. This simplifies the ratio to 1:1 or 1/1, meaning that the ratio of tennis shoes to sandals is equal, indicating that Jessica has an equal number of each type of footwear.
