triangle abc has sides that are 20 centimeters 38 centimeters and 50 centimeters in length . it is related to triangle cde by a scale factor of 0.5 what are the lengths of the sides of triangle CDE. I need help to figure this out. Thanks

when you say "related" it's not quite clear which way the scale factor is applied.

if ABC is .5 CDE, the all the sides of ABC are 0.5 as big as those of CDE.

if CDE is 0.5 ABC, then all the sides of CDE are .5 as big as those of ABC.

So, pick the right one, and just do the math.

My answer is 1.5

How can that be your answer? It asks for the lengths of all the sides of CDE. What the heck is 1.5 supposed to be?

I multiply .5 by 3. Very sorry, but this is hard.

so, where did the 3 come from?

One side of ABC is 20.
So, if a scale factor of 0.5 is applied, the corresponding side of CDE is 0.5*20 = 10

Now do the same for the other two sides.

0.5 times 38= 19

0.5 times 50= 25

Thanks for helping me and walking through the problem with me. I think my answer is correct.
