I am "applying"(practicing writing resumes in english) for a leadership position at a local non profit and I am writing my cover letter, expressing why I want to serve as a president or marketing director. Though this is my first time taking on an exec position role for an organization, I still want to sound convincing. Is there a quote/common saying/theme that involves something like- every one deserves a chance, every one starts somewhere etc.?

I already have my cover letter written, just need a quote/theme to conclude it all. Thanks!

I think you're barking up the wrong tree.

The employer doesn't give a darn about whether you deserve a chance. The employer wants to know what you can do for his/her company.

Ms. Sue is right.

In addition, it's really rare for someone to start at the top! To apply for a position as "president or marketing director"? Those are positions that people work to up from inside a company, for the most part.

No matter what position you're applying for, you must sell yourself, as Ms. Sue says, as to what you an do FOR that organization. Know the organization and know what you can bring to the table to enhance its operations and mission.

Ok, thank you for the guidance. It's just that I am writing from the perspective of someone who has very limited experience with working in an exec position for an organization. If I really wanted this position how could I sell myself? Any examples?

When looking for a quote or theme to conclude your cover letter, it's important to choose one that aligns with your values, showcases your determination, and highlights your willingness to take on new challenges. Here is a quote/theme that can relate to your situation:

"Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts." - Winston Churchill

This quote emphasizes that everyone has to start somewhere and that setbacks are a normal part of any journey. It indicates that what truly matters is your perseverance and commitment to continuous growth and improvement. It conveys that you are eager to embrace the challenges of a leadership position and are not afraid to learn from both successes and failures.

To find quotes or themes for future reference, you can search online for leadership quotes, quotes about growth and development, or even quotes specific to the non-profit industry. Additionally, reading books or articles on leadership and self-improvement can provide you with more inspiration for future applications. Remember, your cover letter should reflect your genuine motivations and aspirations, so choose a quote that resonates with you personally.
