5. Find the x and y intercepts of each linear equation. Be sure to write your answers as ordered pairs.
a.y=3x6
b.6y=x+2
Set x = 0 and y = 0 to find the intercepts.
will that get me 2 thingys for each.?
Again, you should show your own answer first, but I'll show you (a). Afterwards, you should try (b) and post your answer. I'll tell you if it's correct!
All you do to find an xintercept is plug a zero in for the y. To find the yintercept, you plug in a zero for the x.
So, on (a):
X intercept:
y=3x6
0=3x6
+6 +6
6=3x
divide each side by 3, and x equals 2. Therefore, the x intercept is (2,0)
For y:
y=3(0)6
y=06
y=6, so the yintercept is (0,6)
would it be (1/3,0) and (2,0)
You got it! :]
