Dangling Modifiers

Would someone please check these for me to see if they are right.

Since the crops cannot fly over the oak tree (!!), this might be better:
The farmer saw the flock of birds that had been flying over the oak tree and damaging his crops.

Ironing out all wrinkles, the pants looked much more presentable.

CHANGED TO:The pants looked much more presentable after ironing out all the wrinkles.

The police chief posted the mandate against hubcap theft on Monday afternoon.

It sounds as if the hubcap theft took place on Monday afternoon. Is that correct? Or was the mandate posted on Monday afternoon?

Until the beef has been rubbed with garlic oil, do not put it into the skillet.

CHANGED TO: Do not put it into the skillet until the beef has been rubbed with garlic oil.
I wouldn't have changed it, but your change is grammatically correct. In other words, both are correct.

He found his glasses crawling under the couch.

Really? His glasses were crawling under the couch? Wow!

OK -- now for a couple more corrections and then re-post.

=)

I am reading as the mandate was posted on monday against hubcap theft.
If i am doing this right and I assume the dangling modifier is on monday afternoon would be better to redo it as

On monday afternoon the police chief posted the mandate against hubcap the

This is correct.

I would leave the one about garlic and beef alone, although your version sounds better. The "until" clause just defines when to do the cooking, and does not modify a noun.

The last one is a classic (and rather humorous) case of a misplaced dangling modifier. It reads like the glasses are doing the crawling. A better version would be
"He found his glasses WHILE crawling under the couch.

Writeteacher, for someone that seems to think she knows what she is doing and purposely failing your students for no reason, you seem like you need to really brush up on your grammar techniques. P.S. Have you finally upgraded your computer's grading scale so everyone can see it?

If I have the wrong writeacher, I extremely apologize. Please forgive me and ignore the previous post. There is a person with the same name that caused me a lot of frustration when it came to help with school work and that is why I posted this so people or students are not being fooled when it comes to posting the right corrections for grammar assignments. Thanks for your understanding.
