I have a same question as someone else but a little different. Based on a scale 1 inch equals 15 miles. Washington to Franklin is 1 1/2 inches, Franklin to Lincoln is 1 inch How much further from Franklin is Washington than is Lincoln I to got 7 1/2 inches? But I was also told I was wrong? Can anyone help me figure this out? Thank You

That's my brother Matthew he wrote the question all wrong - mine is the right way but I still got it wrong.

Thank You

To solve this problem, we need to convert the distances on the scale to actual miles and then perform the necessary calculations.

Given that 1 inch on the scale represents 15 miles, we can first calculate the actual distance from Washington to Franklin by multiplying the scale distance (1 1/2 inches) by 15 miles per inch:

1 1/2 inches * 15 miles/inch = 22.5 miles

Similarly, we can calculate the actual distance from Franklin to Lincoln by multiplying the scale distance (1 inch) by 15 miles per inch:

1 inch * 15 miles/inch = 15 miles

Now, to determine how much further Washington is from Franklin compared to Lincoln, we subtract the distance from Franklin to Lincoln from the distance from Washington to Franklin:

Washington to Franklin - Franklin to Lincoln = 22.5 miles - 15 miles = 7.5 miles

So, based on the given scale, Washington is 7.5 miles further from Franklin than Lincoln is.

Therefore, your answer of 7 1/2 inches is correct. It seems there may have been some confusion or error in the information you were given. You can double-check the calculations with the given scale and distances to confirm your answer.
