Suppose you start with a 5X solution A, and you want a final volume of 10ul of 1X solution. How much Solution A do you need?
Can you please check my work not sure.
I need 2 ul of solution A to 8 ul of H2O.
5/1=.2*10=2
That looks ok to me.
To obtain a final volume of 10 μl of a 1X solution from a 5X solution, you need to dilute the 5X solution with water.
The formula to calculate the volume of the concentrated solution (V1) needed for dilution is:
V1 * C1 = V2 * C2
Where:
V1 = volume of the concentrated solution
C1 = concentration of the concentrated solution
V2 = final volume of the diluted solution
C2 = desired concentration of the diluted solution
In this case:
V1 = ?
C1 = 5X (which is equivalent to 5)
V2 = 10 μl
C2 = 1X (which is equivalent to 1)
Using the formula, we can solve for V1:
V1 * 5 = 10 * 1
V1 = 10/5
V1 = 2 μl
Therefore, to obtain a final volume of 10 μl of a 1X solution, you need to mix 2 μl of the 5X solution with 8 μl of water.
