Why do you think the author wrote. "The Road Not Taken" and "O Captain! My Captain?"
Each poem was written by a different author. "The Road Not Taken" was written by Robert Frost, while "O Captain My Captain" was written by Walt Whitman.
Why do you think Frost and Whitman wrote each poem?

Ms. Sue, I have tried to answer these questions with eight responses below. I give up.
I don't blame you. It's not as if these poems are long or hard to understand. When I was bored in elementary school, I memorized "O Captain, My Captain" because I liked it.
They are both wonderful poems, among my favorites, too. I even TOLD this person what each is about below and s/he does not "get it." Read my responses below. If I'm on the wrong track, let me know (in e-mail or phone) :)
