Subtract.

(4+6x+7x^2+4x^3)-(-3+6x-7x^2+4x^3)=

7(2x^2 + 1) or 7 * (2x^2 +1)

I know this is basically the same answer
but is one more correct than the other or neither?

they are exactly the same. The * is optional, as you prefer.
