Barry's deck of cards contains 40 blue cards and 70 red cards. Max's deck of cards contains the same number of blue cards, but the ratio of blue cards to red cards is 8:9. How many total cards does Max's deck of cards contain?

THANK YOU!

wait no it's the same guy who posted on January 29, 2017 the answer is 85

also ik im late

85, sorry if someone else already said it...

Oh sorry Anonymous, I also just did the test and I am correcting it Rn.

its 85 because if there are 40 b and 70 r and the 8;9 then 8 x 5 =40 so 9 x 5=45 and 40 + 45 = 85

85 is the answer

had this on my test, answer is 95

To find out how many total cards Max's deck contains, we need to determine the number of blue and red cards separately and then add them together.

Let's assume the number of blue cards in Max's deck is "x". According to the given ratio, the number of red cards would be (9/8) times the number of blue cards.

So, the number of red cards in Max's deck is (9/8)x.

Now, we know that the number of blue cards in Barry's deck is 40, and Max's deck contains the same number of blue cards. Therefore, x = 40.

Substituting x = 40 into the equation for the number of red cards, we get:
Number of red cards = (9/8) x 40 = 45.

Now, we can calculate the number of total cards in Max's deck by adding the number of blue and red cards together:
Total cards = Number of blue cards + Number of red cards = 40 + 45 = 85.

So, Max's deck of cards contains a total of 85 cards.

110

40:blue = 8:9

blue = 45
