I am currently doing an assignment about the preamble to the US Constitution.

Question: What examples can you provide in the present that shows the US Government is still fulfilling this purpose today? Give two.

I have completed 5 out of the 6th purposes. I am stuck on "secure the blessings of liberty". I am not sure what some current examples may be. I have looked everywhere on the internet and just can't seem to figure it out. Would one example be the 26th amendment?

Thank you.

Without knowing what you have written for the others, I'm not about to guess about the sixth.

Take a look at some of the recipients of the Liberty Medal. It is awarded to honor those deemed to have labored to secure the blessings of liberty. It will give you some idea of what might be considered to give meaning to the phrase.

Yes, the 26th Amendment can be seen as an example of the US government fulfilling the purpose of "securing the blessings of liberty" mentioned in the Preamble to the US Constitution. The 26th Amendment, ratified in 1971, lowered the voting age in the United States from 21 to 18 years old. This amendment expanded the right to vote and ensured that more citizens had the opportunity to participate in the democratic process. By giving young adults the right to vote, the government recognized their liberty and freedom of choice, thereby securing the blessings of liberty for this particular group of individuals.

Another example of how the US government fulfills the purpose of securing the blessings of liberty is through the protection of individual rights. The government guarantees and protects various civil liberties outlined in the Bill of Rights, such as freedom of speech, religion, assembly, and press. These rights ensure that citizens can freely express themselves, worship as they choose, gather peacefully, and disseminate information without government interference. By safeguarding these fundamental liberties, the government ensures that the blessings of liberty are secure for all its citizens.

When searching for examples like these, it can be helpful to browse government websites, reputable news sources, or legal databases that cover current events and legislation. Additionally, it can be beneficial to look for specific cases, laws, or policies that relate to the purpose you are trying to find examples for.
