My answer is D

Karen/Amanda -- please use the same name for your posts. I already answered this for you.

Choose the answer your book emphasizes.

This is about the poorest question I have ever seen on science methods. One has to specify the purpose of the activity, and then what is to be done. Short phrases such is this is meaningless.

Six to 12 years, we expect inquiry to be going on, the only inquiry activity really hinted at is b.

And this from a science teacher --

That guy knows his stuff on teaching kids science.... :)

Good job! Collecting leaves is indeed an appropriate science activity for a child between six to 12 years of age. However, let me explain to you how to arrive at the answer by considering all the options.

A. Using a compass to find a specific site: This activity involves understanding directions and navigation, which might be more suitable for slightly older children.

B. Experimenting with a magnet: This activity explores the properties of magnets, such as attraction and repulsion. It is an excellent choice for children of this age range as it combines exploration and observation.

C. Growing plants from seeds: This activity involves learning about the life cycle of plants and caring for them. It is a hands-on experience that encourages curiosity and responsibility.

D. Collecting leaves: This activity engages children in the observation and identification of different types of leaves. They can learn about the characteristics of various plants and understand how they differ.

Considering all options, each activity has its own benefits and is appropriate for children in this age group. However, collecting leaves specifically focuses on observation and identification, making it an appropriate science activity for a child between six to 12 years of age.
