Create an intriguing scene from 19th century Maryland showing the everyday life of a young African American male in 1838, emphasizing his circumstances as he prepares for a life-changing journey. Include elements suggestive of a shipyard and indications of social reform. The image should be able to depict the historical atmosphere and the struggle for freedom, but it should not contain any text or recognizable individuals.

The famous social reformer Fredrick Douglass was born in 1818 in Tuckahoe, Maryland. He was mostly raised by his grandmother. Douglass was born a slave and remained so until 1838, when he escaped slavery by borrowing the papers of a freed-slave and moved to New York. Just a few years before, in 1836 he was hired out and worked in a shipyard in Baltimore. He joined the East Baltimore Improvement Society there in 1837.
