"calculate the volume of 5g of a substance with a density of 6g/mL. SHOW ALL WORK"

I just can't figure it out. D=M/V. But if you're making both sides equal?

If someone could just explain. Because at first I thought it was 8.3, then 5/30, and I'm not asking for an answer, just an explanation.

Thank you!

D = M/V, therefore V = M/D

V = (5g) /(6 g/ml) = 0.833 ml

Note how the "g" dimensions cancel out to give you the ml dimensions of the answer, as well as the number.
