To determine the time period in which "Groom Service" takes place, you need to gather details from the story. Here's a step-by-step approach to help you find relevant information:

1. Look for specific descriptions: Pay attention to any specific details mentioned in the story that can give you clues about the time period. Look for references to objects, technology, clothing styles, or historical events.
2. Analyze the characters: Examine the characters' behaviors, language, and attitudes. Any cultural or societal norms they adhere to can help you narrow down the time frame.
3. Research the author: Learn more about the author, Michael Dorris, and find out if he has provided any insights into the story's setting or time period. Sometimes authors' backgrounds can inform their storytelling choices.
4. Consider historical context: If the story includes any historical events or references, research them to gain a better understanding of the time period in which they occurred. This can help anchor the story's setting and context.
5. Seek literary analysis: Look for essays, reviews, or academic articles discussing the story. Literary analysts often provide insights into the historical, cultural, or social backgrounds of a story, which can help you narrow down the time period.

Remember that "Groom Service" is a short story from the collection "Working Men." It might not provide as much detailed information about the time period as a novel would. But by following these steps and doing thorough research, you should be able to gather enough evidence to determine the approximate time setting.
