LA one question!!!!!

The word scan originally referred to the act of identifying meter in poetry. What meaning of the word is used in this excerpt from "What Makes Teen Tick?"

"The brain of each brother is scanned three times."

looked over quickly
examined through a detector*****
beamrecorded into digital format

you don't need to read the story "what makes teens tick" to answer the question if you were concerned. its just a sentence from the story.
