Explain how ratios can be used to compare two numbers

I searched the web and I didn't understand it

I think this might help me but could someone help me put it in a sentence

The 1st number in a ratio tells the amount thtat shows up for every 2nd number

Example: 20:1 ratio.
For every 20 students in the school, there is 1 teacher.

Explains the rate of one thing in relation to another.

For every 2 apples I bought, I bought 3 oranges. A 2:3 ratio of apples to oranges.

no

Ratios are a way to compare two numbers in terms of their relationship or proportion. The first number in a ratio reflects the amount that shows up for every second number. For example, in a ratio of 20:1, it means that for every 20 students in a school, there is 1 teacher. This ratio explains the rate of students to teachers. Another example could be if you bought 2 apples and 3 oranges, the ratio of apples to oranges would be 2:3, indicating that for every 2 apples, you bought 3 oranges. Ratios help us understand and compare quantities in relation to one another.
