find the constant of proportionality and unit rate for the data in the table. Then write the equation to represent the relationship between time t and distance d

Time Distance
2 hrs 90 miles
3 hrs 135 miles
5 hrs 225 miles
6 hrs 270 miles

I don't understand how to do this kind of math.Please help

  1. you know that d = kt, meaning that their ratio d/t is constant.
    Note that in each case, d/t=3

    That means k=3.

    So, d = 3t

  2. distance (d) ∝ time (t)
    d = kt

    case 1:
    when t = 2 , d = 90
    90 = k(2)
    k = 45

    so d = 45t , the constant of proportionality is 45
    the unit rate is 45 mph

    check on the others
    t = 3 --> d = 45(3) = 135 ✔
    t = 5 --> d = 45(5) = 225 ✔
    t = 6 --> d = 45(6) = 270✔

  3. position = speed * time + initial position
    or
    d = s t + di
    90 = s (2) + di
    135 = s(3) +di

    subtract
    45 = 3 s - 2 s = s
    and
    135 = 45(3) + di
    or
    di = 0

    so in the end
    d = 45 t

    check that
    for example does
    270 = 45(6) ???

  14. I will do it a easier way so first you divide miles by hrs on each time and distance you divide which should equall to 45 miles/hr so the constant is 45 miles/ hr the unit rate is also the same. So D=45t
