Trying to help my child in 5th grade. Shannon pours 4 different liquid ingredients into a bowl The sum of the liquid ingredients is 8.53 liters. Two of her measurements are in milliliters and two of her measurements are in liters. Give an example of possible measurements for Shannon's four liquids

Thank you!! how can i explain to her how to come up with the 2265? I get 2 L and 2L and she will only know that 2L converts to 2000ml how can she figure that leftover out? sorry this stuff totally confuses me :)

There is more than one way to do this

What Alison gave you is one of those.

I would use the two containers measuring only Litres to hold the whole numbers
e.g. 4 L + 4 L
that leaves .53 L or 530 ml
now you can split the 530 into any two parts using the two containers that measure ml

e.g.
2L, 6L, 400 ml, 130 ml
or
3L, 5L, 200 ml, 330 ml

Alison just split the 530 ml into two equal parts
or 265 ml
she had 2L , 2L , (2L + 265 ml), (2L + 265 ml)

remember 1 L = 1000 ml

metric is so easy, can you imagine trying to do this with pints and ounces ??

Liquid A-2L

Liquid B-2L
Liquid C-2265mL
Liquid D-2265mL
