At your summer job with a research company, you must get a random sample of people from your town to answer a question about spending habits. Which of the following methods is most likely to be random?

A) You survey customers at the local shopping mall.
B) You survey people chosen randomly from the local phonebook.
C) You survey several of your friends.
D) You survey customers at a popular restaurant

1. B

2. C
3. D
4. C
5. B
6. A
7. A..not random B.. biased..C 6 percent

None of these would be random today. When this question was written, the phone book would be the obvious choice. However, in 2012, over 38% of adults have no landline, so they won't be listed in phone books.

(I hate these questions that are so out-of-date!)

I thought so. Online schools tend to use a lot of really old information and questions. :-(

ahoj, for no. 7 i am here

a. it is not random. to get a random sample, he should interview students of all ages + teachers
b. it is biased. reasoning: he used an adjective to describe the day as long (put this into your own words + add an example of an unbiased question)
c. 51/54= 94% so 6%

for any ppl of 2018 who read this the awnser is b

you're welcome.

-Kid from the past.

Surveying your friends would not be random.

If you're looking for spending habits, a mall might be the most appropriate.

Tell your teacher there is no good answer for this question.

(I hate them to :c)

So since we know that this question is old, would it be C? That was my first guess but I wasn't really sure...

Yeah, I've noticed that. It's kinda irritating.. :(

I just wanted the answer to 7 explained 😁

Can someone explain Hal's answers for #7 please
