Put the equation below in the form ax^2+bx+c=0.
-x^2+3=(4x+1)^2,
I've been stuck on this for the past hour, could someone please explain how to do this problem?
(4x+1)^2
= 4x(4x+1) + 1(4x+1)
=16 x^2 + 4x + 4 x + 1
= 16 x^2 + 8 x +1 or do FOIL if you know it.
so:
- x^2 + 3 = 16 x^2 + 8 x + 1
17 x^2 + 8 x - 2 = 0
