perimeter of a rectangular shap is 960 ft. The shortest side is 150ft. What is the length of the longest sides?

150 x 2= 300 and then 960-300=660

Then 600/2= 300
Is that right?

I don't know the longest side just the shortest side of 150ft

TErri, you did a mistake when you did 600/2 = 300. It is actually 660/2 = 330. Below will help you understand. Since it is a rectangle, the shortest sides are the same.

They are 150 and 150.

You add them together to get 300.

Then you take 300 away from 960 to get 660.

Next, to divide 660 by 2 to get 330.

330 is the length of the longest sides, but 330 each.

With Ms. Sue's formula above, you times 150 by 2 to get 300, and you times 330 by 2 to get 660.

Finally, you add 660 and 300 together, and you get your perimeter above of 960.

In formula form, it would be:

960 = 2*150 + 2*330
960 = 300 + 660
960 = 960

So, the length of the longest sides are 330.

I hope this will help you understand!

Sorry I typed my answer wrong I did have 330. Thanks so much for explain it to me this always confuses me when I haven't done it in a while. Thank you both

You're welcome. :)

The answer is 28473+e39274

P = 2L + 2W

I'll be glad to check your answer.
