THE PERIMETER OF A RECTANGULAR GARDEN IS 40 METERS. THE LENGTH OF THE GARDEN IS 1 METER LESS THAN TWICE ITS WIDTH WHAT ARE THE DIMENSIONS OF THE GARDEN?

  1. width = x
    length = 2x - 1
    x + x + 2x - 1 + 2x - 1 = 6x - 2
    6x = 42
    x = 7
    length = (2*7) - 1
    = 13m
