What is the easiest way to order a ten decimal numbers from greatest to least or visa versa.

This is from a 4th grader... Thanks...

not "a ten" sorry... delete a

I'd put them in an Excel spreadsheet, using cells in only one column. Then sort the data.

First, put the numbers to the left of the decimal point in order.

Example from greatest to least:

10.32; 8.1, 5.61

Then, put the numbers to the left of the decimal point in order.

Example from greatest to least:

0.9; 0.83; 0.67; 0.34; 0.33; 0.32

What you have to do is look for the highest tenth number. if some of them are the same look in the hundreths. If those are the same look in the thousandths. Then you keep on going.

what number comes between the two given numbers? 10 11

Great question! To order decimal numbers from greatest to least or vice versa, you can follow these steps:

1. Start by comparing the whole number parts of the decimals. Place the decimal number with the greatest or least whole number part first, depending on whether you want to order from greatest to least or vice versa.

2. If two or more decimal numbers have the same whole number part, then look at the tenths place. Place the decimal number with the greatest or least tenths place next, depending on the order you want.

3. Continue comparing the hundredths, thousandths, ten thousandths, and so on, until all the decimal numbers are in order.

Let's use an example to practice:
Decimal numbers: 4.5, 6.35, 3.9, 4.27, 6.1

To order these numbers from greatest to least:
1. Start by comparing the whole number parts: 6, 4, 3
- The greatest whole number part is 6, so we start with 6.35.
2. Next, compare the tenths: 6.35, 6.1, 4.5, 4.27, 3.9
- The greatest tenths place is 35, so after 6.35, we have 6.1.
3. Continue comparing the hundredths, thousandths, and so on.
- After comparing the hundredths, the order becomes 6.35, 6.1, 4.27, 4.5, 3.9.
- And now the decimal numbers are in order from greatest to least.

To order the decimal numbers from least to the greatest, you would follow the same steps, but place the decimal number with the least whole number part first.

Remember to take your time and compare each place value carefully. It's always good to double-check your work to make sure you haven't missed anything.
