Evaluate: l-x^2l (x - y) + (x^3 + y) If x + 8 = 3 and y = 3_

\l 8
Is the answer -202? I did it in the calculator but forgot how to work it out

l -(-5)^2 l [( -5) - (-2)] + [(-5)^3 + (-2)]

Ms.Sue i broke it down more! Hopefully that helps

just plug in the values x = -5 and y = 3

l-x^2l (x - y) + (x^3 + y)
= |-25| (-5-3) + (-125+3)
= 25(-8) + (-122)
= -322

But the answer is suppose to be -202 and I don't know how to get that

And y is suppose to be -2

I missed that set of inside brackets.

To evaluate the expression, we can follow these step-by-step instructions:

1. Substitute the given values of x and y into the expression:
l - x^2 l (x - y) + (x^3 + y)
= l - (3)^2 l (3 - 3) + ((3)^3 + 3)

2. Simplify the expression inside the absolute value:
= l - 9 l (0) + (27 + 3)

3. Simplify further:
= l - 9 l (0) + 30
= 9(0) + 30
= 30

Therefore, the evaluation of the expression is 30, not -202.
