You are a member of your local movie theater’s club. Every time you see a movie at the theater, you earn 2 advantage points. When you earn 100 points, you get a free movie pass.

Currently, you have 40 advantage points.

Write an equation to model the number of movies m you have to watch before you earn a free movie pass.

Solve the equation. Show your work.

40+2m=100

40-40=0
100-40=60
60/2=30

Is it: 40 + 2m = 100?

the answer is 30

exactly, the subtract both sides by 40 and then divide both sides by two to get m=30

1.y=2m+40 y=number of points needed

2.100=2m+40

60=2m

m=30

Right.

It's suppose to be in algebra

I can see how some people think it is 60. But if you earn 2 advantage points every time you see a movie then you would divide 60 by 2.

If you think the answer is 60 then your wrong. It is 30.

Yall the answer is 30

40+2m = 100

2m=100−40 (subtract both sides from 40, 100 - 40 = 60)
2m=60 (now you DIVIDE both sides by 2)
m= 60/2

m=30, so the answer is 30 :)
