Calculate the area of the composite figure, which is not drawn to scale. 17cm 10cm 22cm 17cm 19cm.!

I have an answer but I was told by my teacher it was wrong, If anyone could give me the steps to solving it I'll be perfectly happy! :-) thank you

To calculate the area of a composite figure, you need to break it down into simpler shapes and calculate the area of each shape separately. Then, add up the areas of all the shapes to find the total area.

In your case, the composite figure consists of several different shapes. To simplify the calculation, let's break it down into rectangles and a triangle.

Step 1: Identify the different shapes in the composite figure:
- Rectangle A: 17 cm (length) x 10 cm (width)
- Rectangle B: 22 cm (length) x 10 cm (width)
- Rectangle C: 17 cm (length) x 19 cm (width)
- Triangle D: Base 19 cm and height 10 cm (forming the top portion of the figure)

Step 2: Calculate the area of each shape:
- Area of Rectangle A = Length x Width = 17 cm x 10 cm = 170 cm²
- Area of Rectangle B = Length x Width = 22 cm x 10 cm = 220 cm²
- Area of Rectangle C = Length x Width = 17 cm x 19 cm = 323 cm²
- Area of Triangle D = (Base x Height) / 2 = (19 cm x 10 cm) / 2 = 95 cm²

Step 3: Add up the areas of all the shapes:
Total Area = Area of Rectangle A + Area of Rectangle B + Area of Rectangle C + Area of Triangle D
Total Area = 170 cm² + 220 cm² + 323 cm² + 95 cm²

After performing the calculation, you will find the total area of the composite figure.

Help I need somebody HELP not just anybody HELP

kinda hard, since you give no idea of the shape of the figure.

In general, divide it up into triangles, which you can then handle more easily.

here is the shape
