There were 56 more ducks than chicken on a farm. After 1/3 of the chickens and 4/5 of the ducks were sold, there was an equal number of chickens and ducks left on the farm. How many ducks were there on the farm at first?

d = c + 56

d / 5 = 2/3 c

multiplying by 15 (LCD) ... 3 d = 10 c

substituting ... 3 (c + 56) = 10 c ... 3c + 168 = 10 c

solve for c , then substitute back to find d
