[Situation: They are at a concert.]

Oh, no! My throat feels funny. COUGH! Mom jumps from the sound.
------------------------------------------------------------------
In this situation, does Mom stands up from the chair? Or, is she worried or surprised from the sound without standing up? I found the definition from Longman dictionary? Does she get up? Or she doesn't get up, but she is surprised or frightened. Which meaning does 'jump' have?

*** in fear/surprise [intransitive] to make a quick sudden movement because you are surprised or frightened ==={Longman]

Does a quick, sudden movement mean you stand up every time, or could that be one of several quick, sudden movements? If she was already standing at an outdoor concert, might she suddenly turn her head to look at the child who's coughing? Might there be any number of movements one might make in response to a sudden, unexpected noise?
