#1 if the polygons are similar, they have equal angles. So, they must have the same number of sides as well...
#2 Did you draw such a shape?
It has no horizontal lines of symmetry, since the bases are of different lengths.
How many ways can you fold it so it folds just in half?

#1 means always. A triangle cannot be similar to a rectangle. A pentagon cannot be similar to a kite.
Looks like you need to review what "similar" means, geometrically.
#2 By this time you have probably figured out that there is only one line of symmetry, just as with an isosceles triangle. In fact, a triangle is just a trapezoid with a top base of length zero.
