Mass=48; volume=24cm³. What is the density of this substance?

density = mass/volume

however in sci units it is kg/m^3 (water = 1000 kg/m^3)
often it is grams/cm^3 (water = 1 g/cm^3)
However not knowing if 48 is kg, grams, slugs or whatever the problem can not be solved

Here is the difference between a math teacher.

Add 2+2
math teacher: 4
science teacher: what are the units, for instance 2bananas+2apples= makes no sense
2 bananas+2banana bunch= ???

on density, mass and volume have to have units. 2kg/cm^3 is much different than 2g/cm^3 is much different than 2lbs/cm^3. All those densities are very different indeed.

To calculate the density of a substance, you need to divide its mass by its volume.

Given:
Mass = 48 grams
Volume = 24 cm³

Density = Mass / Volume

Density = 48 grams / 24 cm³

To get the answer in the correct unit, you need to cancel out the units. Grams are a unit of mass, and cm³ is a unit of volume.

Density = 48 g / 24 cm³

Next, you can simplify the fraction:

Density = 2 g/cm³

Therefore, the density of the substance is 2 grams per cubic centimeter (g/cm³).

To find the density of a substance, you need to divide its mass by its volume. In this case, the given mass is 48 grams (g), and the volume is 24 cubic centimeters (cm³).

So, using the formula:
Density = Mass / Volume

Substituting the given values:
Density = 48 g / 24 cm³

Simplifying the division:
Density = 2 g/cm³

Therefore, the density of the substance is 2 grams per cubic centimeter (g/cm³).
