Your older sister drove 500 miles to college one way in ten hrs what was her average velocity

    500 miles/10 hours = 50 miles/hour
    That is the average speed.

    (not velocity. For speed you just need distance/time. For velocity you also need direction. It is a vector. For example if you did 250 miles to destination and then 250 miles back all in ten hours your speed would still be 50 miles/hour BUT you velocity would be zero because your displacement in the ten hours was zero, you ended up getting nowhere.)
