Can someone please help me?

I have to turn in this homework really soon and I'm only stuck on this last question.

"Describe how you would use the distributive property to simplify 39 x 5"

I don't know how Distributive property works and if somebody could at least explain that would be great :)

(30+9)*5=?

distributive is breaking apart a big number to make multiplication easier. To do this you basically multiplying inside the parentheses, and add them together.(30*5)+(9*5)=?

Thank you so much for the help!

This also works with division for future reference.

maybe the simplification they are looking for is ... 39 = 40 - 1

5 * (40 - 1) = 200 - 5 ... easy numbers...

Of course, I'd be happy to help you with the distributive property and explain how to use it to simplify the expression 39 x 5.

The distributive property is a fundamental concept in mathematics that allows you to simplify expressions by breaking them down into smaller parts. It states that when you multiply a number by a sum or difference within parentheses, you can distribute the multiplication to each term inside the parentheses and then perform the operations.

In the case of 39 x 5, you can use the distributive property to simplify it by breaking down 39 into a sum of smaller numbers. Let's write it as 30 + 9:

39 x 5 = (30 + 9) x 5

Now, you can distribute the multiplication to each term inside the parentheses:

(30 + 9) x 5 = 30 x 5 + 9 x 5

Next, you can simply multiply each term separately:

30 x 5 = 150
9 x 5 = 45

Finally, add the two results together:

150 + 45 = 195

Therefore, 39 x 5 simplifies to 195 using the distributive property.

Remember, the distributive property is not limited to just multiplying numbers. It can also be used when dealing with variables or expressions. The key is to break down an expression into smaller parts, distribute the operations to each term, and then simplify.

heyyyyyyy who wants my number????????????????????????????
