How many valence electrons are shared, gained, or lost by each atom of the six compounds?

• N2 • CCl4 • SiO2
• AlCl3 • CaCl2 • LiBr

none of this makes any sense to me ;-;

so does that mean that Li will lose 1 electron and Br will gain 1 electron

same Lyssa

how does this apply to my everyday life day life

Yes, that leaves them both with full shells. This has to be in your book!

or google ionic bond and covalent bond

so Cl gain 7 electrons right

would N2 have to gain 3 electrons to have a full shell?

oh wait will Cl gain 1 electron to have a full shell?

Of course Cl will gain 1 e to have a full shell which give it a -1 charge.However, if combined with C it will share electrons with Cl to form four covalent bonds. SiO2 is covalent as is N2.
