Basically the SAT includes a mathematics section and a verbal (reading and grammar/usage/sentence structure) section.

In the website linked above, scroll down to Section Topics and click on "Inside the Test" for further information.

This is determined by each college. I suspect most have not specified any subject tests. But some have "recommended" subject area tests. You need to check your college registration requirements handbook.

For those two areas you listed listed, generally recommended, Math II, physics, chemistry, or biology. For instance, see this on Carnegie Mellon University, a typical first drawer University ; http://admission.enrollment.cmu.edu/pages/standardized-test-requirements
Note, this is pretty common " Applicants won't be penalized if the cost of taking the SAT Subject Tests causes financial hardship and as a result, prohibits their submission. In such instances, instead of SAT Subject Tests, we'll rely on secondary school record, rigor of coursework, teacher and counselor recommendations, essays and any other information available.

So your HSchool course work can be very important and is an evaluation tool.

Now on the basic SAT, personally, I recommend you also take the written essay option. Colleges are looking for quality students, who have a history of working with others, sound basic academic work, who can communicate, and who have determination to make the world a better place.

Thank you very much!

Sure! The SAT exam is typically taken by high school students as part of their college admissions process. While the SAT mainly focuses on general academic skills such as reading, writing, and math, it does not specifically test for subjects like physics or engineering. However, these subjects are typically assessed through other means during the college application process.

To pursue a physics degree or an engineering degree, you will generally need to consider taking specific subject tests or exams in addition to the SAT. Here's what you can do:

1) Physics Degree:
To pursue a physics degree, you can register for the SAT Subject Test in Physics. This exam assesses your knowledge in various areas of physics, including classical mechanics, electricity and magnetism, waves, and modern physics. Taking this subject test can demonstrate your proficiency in physics to college admission committees.

2) Engineering Degree:
For an engineering degree, it is advisable to take the SAT Subject Tests in Math Level 2 and Physics. The Math Level 2 test assesses your mathematical skills relevant to engineering while the Physics test evaluates your understanding of different physics concepts. These subject tests can help colleges assess your ability in these specific subjects.

Remember that different colleges and universities have varying requirements and recommendations for subject tests. It is essential to research the specific requirements of the institutions you are interested in to ensure you meet their expectations.

Additionally, note that the SAT exams have specific registration and test dates. You can find detailed information about the SAT Subject Tests and their registration procedures on the official College Board website.

Good luck with your academic pursuits!
