(x+8)/(y+8) = 3/4
3x = 2y
4x+32 = 3y+24
4x + 32 = 3(3x/2)+24
x/2 = 8
x = 16
y = 24
check:
16/24 = 2/3
(16+8)/(24+8) = 24/32 = 3/4
