Andrea has three candles. Explain how she can use the yellow candle to find out if the red candle is shorter or taller than the blue candle.

Light the yellow candle and look at the red and blue candles.

Thank you so much.

Thanks! :-)

To use the yellow candle to compare the heights of the red and blue candles, Andrea can follow these steps:

1. Stand the yellow candle vertically on a flat surface.
2. Place the red candle next to the yellow candle.
3. Observe if the flame of the yellow candle reaches above, below, or at the same height as the flame of the red candle.
4. If the flame of the yellow candle is below the flame of the red candle, then the red candle is taller than the yellow candle.
5. If the flame of the yellow candle is above the flame of the red candle, then the red candle is shorter than the yellow candle.
6. If the flame of the yellow candle is at the same height as the flame of the red candle, then they are of the same height.

After comparing the yellow candle with the red candle, Andrea can repeat the same process with the blue candle to determine its height relative to the yellow candle.
