Shawna reduced the size of a rectangle to a height of 2 inch. What is the new width if it was originally 24 inch wide and 12 inch Tall?

2/12 = 1/6

24 * 1/6 = 4

or
12/24 = 2/x
12 x = 48
x = 4

or the original width was twice the length
twice 2 is 4

the answer is 4 because if you add all those together and divided them by the new width you will get 4.

hope this helps!!!:)

PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

I am so confused ,help please anyone??Idk how you guyz got 4 or 1/6 😭

Ok i am so confused with what the answer is.I searched it up on ths website and it shows the equation 2/12 and 1/6. I dont understand were the 1/6 came from. Can some one please explain?

To find the new width after reducing the size of the rectangle, we need to determine the scale factor of the reduction. The scale factor is the ratio of the new height to the original height.

Here's how we can calculate it:

1. Divide the new height by the original height: 2 inch / 12 inch = 1/6.

This tells us that the new height is 1/6th of the original height. To find the new width, we need to apply the same scale factor to the original width.

2. Multiply the original width by the scale factor: 24 inch * (1/6) = 4 inch.

Therefore, the new width of the rectangle is 4 inches.
