Write a translation rule that maps point D(7,-3) onto point D(2,5)
Please help I don't understand how to do translation I graph the number down but didn't know the next step.
13. ANSWER: Rule (x,y) arrow pointing to the right (X-5,y+8) each point moves and the X has moved 5 units to the left and the Y has moved 8 units up. X-5 and y+8
x = xi - 5
y = yi + 7
just tell us the ANSWER!!!!!!!!!
Damon I don't understand still?
Thanks @Roe connexus
Who is right Roe or damon
I think roe
My answer was 5 units to the right and 8 down. Hope this helps :)
To map point D(7,-3) onto point D(2,5) using translation, you need to determine the movement required to transform the first point to the second point. Here are the steps:
1. Identify the horizontal and vertical shifts needed:
- Horizontal shift: The x-coordinate changes from 7 to 2, so there is a horizontal shift of -5 units (from right to left).
- Vertical shift: The y-coordinate changes from -3 to 5, so there is a vertical shift of 8 units (upwards).
2. Write the translation rule based on the shifts identified:
- Horizontal shift: Move left 5 units (negative 5).
- Vertical shift: Move up 8 units.
Therefore, the translation rule to map D(7,-3) onto D(2,5) is:
T(x, y) = (x - 5, y + 8)
To apply the translation rule, subtract 5 from the x-coordinate (7 - 5 = 2) and add 8 to the y-coordinate (-3 + 8 = 5). You will get the new coordinates of D(2,5).
