1/6 is the sum of two unit fractions. how may pairs of unit fractions will equal 1/6?

what??? 2/27??? 1/9 + 1/18 = 3/18 or 1/6 (lowest term)

Change them into similar fractions having the Least Common Denominator (LCD) of 18;
=[1(2)/9(2)] + 1/18
=2/18 + 1/18
=3/18 or 1/6
same procedure with 1/10 + 1/15

1/12 + 1/12 = 2/12 = 1/6

What about 1/10+1/15? or 1/9+1/18?

i believe 1/9+1/18=3/18=1/6. correct?

Thank you. is there a trick to finding all the pairs of unit fractions that will add up to 1/6?

1/10+1/15 = 2/25

1/9+1/18 = 2/27

Neither of those add up to 1/6

Unfortunately, I don't know any tricks,techniques or method that can be use in that problem.

What about other pairs?

Remember that a unit fraction must have 1 as the numerator.

Can you think of any other fraction that meets these criteria?

1/9+1/18 = 2/27 (not 3/27)
