If you are given y = -2x^2 + 3

Find the instantaneous at x= 1/2 if you know...

Secant Line 1 Passes through [1/2f(x)] and [1f(1)]

Secant Line 2 Passes through [1/2f(x)] and [2f(2)]

Secant Line 3 Passes through [1/2f(x)] and [3f(3)]

not sure what the secant lines mean. At x = 1/2, they all pass through

1/2 f(x) = (3 - 1/4)/2 = (1/2,11/8)

That won't get anywhere near the tangent line, no matter what other point you choose.

I suspect there is something left unsaid here.
